Lord Shani Saturn Puja / Shani Puja
Shani Puja is a significant Vedic ritual performed to honor and propitiate Lord Shani Dev, the planetary deity associated with Saturn. Shani is considered a strict but just planet, a 'karma karaka' (significator of karma), who delivers results based on one's past and present actions. While often feared for his challenging periods, Shani also bestows great discipline, spiritual growth, and success upon those who work hard and act righteously. The puja aims to alleviate the negative influences of Saturn, bring peace, prosperity, and mitigate hardships, promoting patience, perseverance, and spiritual understanding.
Purpose
To appease Lord Shani and mitigate the malefic effects of Shani Dasha (planetary period), Shani Sade Sati (seven-and-a-half-year cycle), Shani Dhaiya (two-and-a-half-year cycle), or any other adverse placement of Saturn in one's astrological chart. It is performed to seek blessings for protection, stability, discipline, justice, and to overcome obstacles, delays, and misfortunes.
