Saraswati

Saraswati Prayers

Saraswati is the Hindu goddess of knowledge, music, art, speech, wisdom, and learning. She is a part of the Tridevi, the trinity of Hindu goddesses, along with Lakshmi (goddess of wealth) and Parvati (goddess of power). Saraswati is typically depicted as a beautiful, fair-skinned woman, often dressed in white, symbolizing purity and knowledge. She is usually shown with four arms, holding a veena (a stringed musical instrument) in two of her hands, symbolizing her association with arts and music. Her other hands typically hold a book (representing the Vedas and knowledge), a rosary (symbolizing meditation and spirituality), and a water pot (representing purification and the essence of creation). Her mount is a swan (Hamsa), which symbolizes discrimination between good and bad, and purity. She is widely worshipped by students, artists, and scholars, particularly during the festival of Vasant Panchami, which marks her birth.
